The Shannahan – Brown House was finished in 1891 and is recognized as one of the most significant late Victorian residences in Easton. Built by the prominent Shannahan family, the house has been in the possession of the Brown family for more than half a century. Situated on what was known as “Silk Stocking Row,” the neighborhood has survived and new residents are committed to preserving its charm.
This late Victorian residence is located in the heart of historic Easton, and takes one back to a bygone era. The house has recently come alive, as the owner has furnished the house with many period pieces and items collected while living in the Far East. Guests remark that they enjoy the ambience of staying in a well loved home, rather than in a vacation rental or an inn.
A wide center hall moves past formal and informal living areas and a large dining room. The spacious, well equipped kitchen will please even the most discerning cook. A breakfast room adjoining the kitchen is perfect for less formal meals.
Four bedrooms sleep ten people comfortably, all of which open on a bright center hallway. One of the bathrooms is original and was one of the first in Easton to have indoor plumbing.
A garden graced by crepe myrtles and a large magnolia tree is pleasant much of the year. The house has several working fireplaces and central air conditioning for hot days. High speed internet access and cable television offer all the modern amenities to keep you up to date during your stay.
The house is within a two block walk of the center of historic Easton. The old town offers a variety of shopping for the whole family, from antiques to hunting and fishing equipment. Fine dining can be found, featuring every cuisine from Italian to Asian fusion.

Musical events are centered at the Avalon Theatre and well regarded art exhibits are featured at the Academy of the Arts. Easton is the county seat of Talbot County, with the historic waterside towns of St. Michaels and Oxford being only 15 minutes away.
